New Zealand will soon have its own crowdfunding initiative thanks to the Arts Foundation. Donations made to arts projects listed on the forthcoming Boosted site will be tax deductible. Because of this – and unlike other crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter (US) and Pozible (AU) – no rewards will be offered in return for pledges, with The Arts Foundation claiming that “people support projects because they want to be part of their success, not for direct rewards”. The website is set to launch later this year.
