French carnal artist Orlan is taking Gaga to court for plagiarism.  Orlan is demanding $31.7 million worth of the profits from the album and video for Gaga’s ‘Born this way’, claiming that she stole the aesthetic of the artist’s 1996 sculpture ‘Femme Avec Tête’ (Woman With Head).

Cheeky Gaga’s pilfered ideas from the visual arts before.  The infamous meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards was uncannily similiar to Canadian artist Jana Sterbak’s 1987 work ‘Vanitas: Flesh Dress for an Albino Anoretic’ (above).  She’s riffed on Marina Abramović, Marilyn Minter, H.R. Giger and Matthew Barney too.  Girl’s gotta get some new material…
