A new director has been found to replace the long-standing head of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Edmund Capon, with the gallery board appointing Australian Michael Brand to take over the role. Dr Brand is the Consulting Director of the Aga Khan Museum (a new institution currently being built in Toronto) and is a previous Director of the J. Paul Getty Museum in LA. He also serves on the Visiting Committee of the Harvard Art Museum and the International Advisory Board of the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. He takes up his new position in the middle of the year.
