Clyfford Still Painting Attacked

Clyfford Still, '1957-J-No. 2', 1957

An allegedly intoxicated woman punched and scratched Clyfford Still’s 1957 painting ‘1957-J-No. 2’ whilst visiting the Clyfford Still Museum in Denver last month. The 10,000 dollars worth of damage she caused to the 30 million dollar painting was not only inflicted by the 34 year old assailants fists – Carmen Tisch also pulled down her trousers and rubbed her buttocks across the painting before urinating in front of it.  She’s been charged with felony criminal mischief for her actions and, if convicted, could be sentenced to up to 12 years in jail.
