Bill Culbert to represent NZ in Venice

Creative New Zealand has selected Bill Culbert to represent New Zealand at the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013.  The 76 year old ex-pat (who divides his time between London and France) was appointed by the 2013 Venice Biennale Commissioner Jenny Harper and an external advisory panel that included Christina Barton (Adam Art Gallery), Elizabeth Caldwell (Dunedin Public Art Gallery), Heather Galbraith (Massey University), Michael Houlihan (Te Papa)
and Peter Robinson (Auckland University and 2001 Venice Biennale artist).
Prior to this, CNZ sought advice from the wider visual arts sector, inviting them to propose names of artists and/or artist/curator teams.

An excellent choice.
