Destiny to Transform Laneway

Destiny Deacon

City of Melbourne has announced this year’s Laneway Commissions – and it’s the first time that the line-up is exclusively indigenous. One of the artists selected to temporarily transform one of Melbourne’s inner streets is Destiny Deacon. Known predominantly for her work in photography and video, Deacon’s proposed commission Where I Am will instead consist of a light and sound installation. The other selected artists are: John Harding, Judy Nicholson, James MacFayden, Ashley Firebrace-Kerr, Derek Smith and Steaphan Paton.

The Laneway Commissions program will run between October 2011 and February 2012.
