The ugliest building in England

The Strata Building in Elephant and Castle, South London

London’s Strata Tower has won this year’s Carbuncle Cup – a dubious award (now in its fifth year) that highlights Britain’s ugliest new buildings.  Also known as The Electric Razor, the Strata Tower is one of the first skyscrapers to contain wind turbines that contribute to, er, 8% of the building’s electricity requirements.  The building is so disliked that one of the nominators said:  “I used to live in South London and moved partly because — and I’m not joking — the Strata tower made me feel ill and I had to see it every day”.
