Teenage boys everywhere will no doubt be saddened to learn of the passing of 82-year-old fantasy painter Frank Frazetta. The renowned sword and sorcery illustrator made a name for himself in the 1960s designing book covers for the Conan The Barbarian paperback series.
Despite being ignored by museums, Frazetta’s canvases have become increasingly sought after – in November one of his paintings sold to a private collector for US$1 million. He also created album covers for the likes of Nazareth, Yngwie Malmsteen and, er, Wolfmother. The illustrator died from a stroke on Monday.
